You're invited to the Friendly Street 2013 Mega Launch: New Poets 18 will be launched by Steve Brock; the 2013 Anthology Patterns of Living will be launched by Brian Castro. The result of the Friendly Street Single Poets competition will be announced by one of Adelaide's most prominent writers. The Nova Prize for 2013 will be announced. M.C. Tracey Korsten. Readings by the poets. This will be a massive night of poetry and prizes. 6 pm at the South Australian Writers Centre, Rundle Street, Adelaide (above Cafe Brunelli). what is visual poetry? is an informal session which will be held from 2pm to 4pm at Co-West, 129 Currie Street, City (opposite Adelaide TAFE). Tim Gaze will illustrate the nature of visual poetry with books & other publications from his own collection, ranging from early 20th century pioneers Apollinaire & Paul Van Ostaijen to the recently published The Last Vispo anthology. Cost is $2, to cover hire of the room.

Janeen Brian's historical novel for children 9-12 years, That Boy Jack, set in the early Cornish mining era in SA's Copper Triangle, will be launched on at 1.30pm at Immanuel College, 32 Morphett Road, Novar Gardens, SA. Award-winning author and Bard of Cornwall, Rosanne Hawke, will launch the book. Entertainment, including music from members of the Adelaide Cornish Choir and the Celtic Daughters, will be provided. Janis Hill's ebook Bonnie's Story: A Blonde's Guide to Mathematics will be launched at the Mount Barker Community Library from 1pm. Meet Bonnie and the new man in her life, Rogan; and discover what happens when hard maths meets a rolled up newspaper. Entry is free and light refreshments provided. September 4 - 8, 2013: Write Around the Murray Festival. Australian Voices is the theme for this year's festival, on again for five days, highlighting a rich, diverse program that brings to life stories and voices from the past and present. They'll be honouring local legends, pondering the national character and sifting through fact and fiction during this annual celebration of creativity and community. Prepare to be entertained, informed, challenged, surprised and enchanted.
